Studio 230
Suzanne Montgomery Skoras resides in the small village of Limeport, Pennsylvania, where the quiet rhythms of her surroundings shape the heart of her creative practice. Working primarily with soft‑paste and acrylic mediums, she also enjoys exploring oils and watercolor from time to time, allowing each material to guide a different facet of her expression.
Her work is rooted in close observation — reflections on the natural environment and the way it reveals itself during walks, travel, and lived experiences. Suzanne draws inspiration from the subtle shifts of light, the textures of the landscape, and the emotional resonance found in everyday encounters with nature. Her paintings become a form of storytelling, capturing not only the physical qualities of a place but also the narrative of how it felt, what it evoked, and the quiet moments it held.
As a lifelong, technically focused individual, Suzanne finds that art satisfies her love of procedure, structure, and adaptation, while also revealing emotion and intuition in unexpected ways. In her portrait work, a raw umber wash and delicate glazing reveal the shape of things to come; with each layer, the form emerges until the final varnish brings forward the subject’s essence. Her landscapes hold their own quiet secrets, built through layered underpaintings and subtle shifts of color that chase the glow of sunrise and sunset, the shimmer of water, and the luminous space where sky meets earth.
Suzanne’s work has been accepted into Lehigh Valley juried art exhibits. She has been included in exhibitions hosted by the Lehigh Art Alliance, Nazareth Center for the Arts, Broad and Belvidere Contemporary Art, and Studio 924 Salon. In 2025, she was selected to exhibit her work at the Pennsylvania State Capitol’s East Wing Rotunda as part of the Department of Aging’s special tribute to active senior citizen artists. She was also recently juried into the National Southwest Florida Pastel Society’s 2025 exhibition, expanding her artistic presence beyond the Northeast.
In all her work, Suzanne strives to reveal a moment, a path, a whisper, an emotion — the fleeting impressions that remind us to pause, look closely, remember and feel deeply.
