Ana Hamilton

Studio 223

Ana Hamilton was born in Holguin, Cuba and was educated at the Colegio Lestonnac, Havana University. A graduate of  Trenton State College (The College of New Jersey), her fine arts education and training spans from Cuba, Spain, to the USA. However, she has drawn and painted as long as she can remember.

Ana was exposed to many art forms at an early age by her father, portrait photographer Aurelio V. Sueiro, and the various artists who visited their home. The classical training she received is reflected in her present work, which she describes as representing reality as it unfolds in front of your eyes. “Currently I use memories and experiences in my process,” she explains, “with a focus not on following the technical rules but rather the emotions behind the piece and how it makes the viewer feel. There is a freedom that I feel when I use any color or lines within the canvas, and it brings the image of sky, water, flowers or other figures that can seductively represent images of lands or places—even when not intentionally planned.”

Ana has participated in numerous solo and group shows in the Lehigh Valley, Miami, New York, Los Angeles, Barcelona and Cuba.
